Extreme Temperature Diary-June 28, 2019/ Historic European Heat Wave…Day Three (Friday)

Friday June 28th… Dear Diary. The main purpose of this ongoing blog will be to track United States extreme or record temperatures related to climate change. Any reports I see of ETs will be listed below the main topic of the day. I’ll refer to extreme or record temperatures as ETs (not extraterrestrials).😉

Historic European Heat Wave…Day Three (Friday)

Before posting more notes on the European heat wave let’s do a quick check of the heat dome aiding the thing to persist through this coming weekend. Here is the latest model initial analysis:

For Friday the nose of the heat Dom will be poking northwest towards Britain where I expect anomalous warmth to be reported. All the while 500 millibar heights will be coming down a bit from a maximum extent above 597 decameters in southern France on Thursday.

On Saturday models forecast the nose of the ridge to poke northeast towards Germany while continuing to diminish across France and Spain:

All of this means that the heat wave across most of Europe will continue this weekend while the worst may be over with in France and Spain after Friday. Germany and other more northern and Eastern European countries could see their hottest day on Saturday.

Dangerously hot and humid conditions will be building across the Plains and southeast Atlantic area on Saturday, but temperatures should be below record levels:

Due to the combination of temperatures in the 80s and 90s and humidity heat advisories are now widespread in the northern and central Plains:
